In the ever-changing and always challenging world of claims management, experience matters.
CPCU, CLU, ChFC, AIC, AIU, AIM – taken as a whole, these acronyms clearly spell EXPERIENCE. BrightClaim’s managers and directors are career claims professionals with diverse claims backgrounds – from the largest staff insurance organizations to the largest independent claims organizations – with experience in project development, product management, training, and technology initiatives. A number of BrightClaim executives are considered to be leading subject matter experts in their related fields and have consulted with large organizations on a broad range of claims management issues.
Howard Rogers
President, CEO
Howard has many years of property and casualty insurance industry experience, including senior executive responsibility for sales and operations with a national claims service provider. Howard’s credentials include: Associate in Claims, former president of Tennessee Claims Association, and graduate of Wharton Management Program sponsored by AICPCU.
G. Steven Sugg
Senior Vice President
Among Steven’s responsibilities at BrightClaim are Contents Services and Marketing. Steven has 20 years of experience in the claims industry, including running one of the largest property evaluation firms in the U.S. for over a decade. Steven has worked as a consultant with leading technology providers to the insurance industry and oversaw the development of one of the claims industry’s first stand-alone automated contents estimating systems.
Larry D. Washington, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, AIC, AIM, AIU
Senior Vice President
Larry’s responsibilities include managing Inspection Services, Catastrophe Services, and Environmental Response. He has more than 27 years of claims experience, including 10 years managing high profile class action settlement cases, product recall, product warranty, quality assurance programs, environmental claims and catastrophe claims. Larry has completed the requirements for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management and Associate in Underwriting.
Larry Chase
Chief Financial Officer
Larry is responsible for managing projects and developing business processes that enable BrightClaim to fulfill its commitments to its clients. With more than 30 years of experience in the claims industry, Larry has served as subject matter expert, business representative, and project manager. Trained in the handling of both casualty and property claims, he specialized in workers compensation and professional liability claims during his time in the field. He later served in a variety of corporate staff, management and executive positions for a national provider of risk management services.
Ty Miller
Vice President – Sales
Ty joined BrightClaim in December of 2006. Ty has a vast amount of experience in the P&C Insurance marketplace. Before joining BrightClaim, Ty worked with the industry leading independent flooring laboratory ITEL, based in Jacksonville, Florida. Ty joined ITEL after building a successful competing flooring testing company (Spill Tech), which was acquired by ITEL in 2006.
Ty’s insurance career began at State Farm in both claims and agency markets. He was also involved in the start up of Prism, one of the first contractor network programs. Ty’s insurance career then transitioned to Home Depot where he served as the National Account Executive to the insurance sector.
George Kattermann
Vice President – Catastrophe Services
During a career spanning over 24 years in the claims profession, George developed extensive multi-line experience with particular emphasis on residential and commercial property claims. Prior to joining BrightClaim, George was the National Catastrophe Director for American Family Insurance and was later promoted to Property and Commercial Operations Director. Kattermann served in these roles at American Family for nine plus years. Kattermann started his career as a field adjuster with The Allied Group and served in an executive capacity with a national catastrophe vendor.
Ted Vibbert
Assistant Vice President, IT Director
Ted is responsible for the overall design and implementation BrightClaim’s IT initiatives. He has been involved in PC design and database development for the past 15 years.
Ted’s background includes work in the construction field, experience he later used as a supervisor where he managed a number of Class Action programs relating to plumbing and other building product issues. Ted now leverages his practical field experience with his IT knowledge to create sophisticated yet user-friendly systems, including the design and implementation of specialized environmental incident response systems.
Chuck Lawrence
Assistant Vice President
Chuck joined BrightClaim in July of 2011. Chuck is responsible for our Property Claims Management operations. Chuck has an extensive amount of experience in the P&C Insurance marketplace. Before joining BrightClaim, Chuck worked in a number of leadership positions both in underwriting and claims with Main Street American Insurance, based in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to that Chuck spent 14 years with Chubb with his last position as Regional Manager of Claims. Chuck also held previous claims positions with AIG Private Client Group, Farmers Insurance Group and Cincinnati Insurance.
DIVERSE SUPPORT TEAM
BrightClaim’s support staff is made up of highly skilled, technically proficient claims professionals specializing in all areas of claims. BrightClaim’s front line claims experts have worked for both staff and independent claims organizations and have experience in personal and commercial lines claims handling.
Michelle R. Danner
Director – Field and Catastrophe Resources
Michelle’s primary focus at BrightClaim is the development of Specialty Field and Catastrophe resources. Michelle has dedicated her entire professional career to the claims industry for both insurance companies as well as independent claims handling companies. Michelle has held positions as adjuster, coordinator and supervisor.
Her experience in those roles has included Personal and Commercial Lines Property, Lender Placed coverage, General Liability, Auto Liability and Homeowner Warranty claims. She is recognized as a licensed adjuster in 14 states.
Ron Folger
Director – Contents Services
Ron is responsible for the day-to-day management of all contents-related services provided by BrightClaim, including Schedule C Contents Services and BrightClaim’s Onsite Contents Services.
In addition to being a licensed adjuster, Ron’s experience includes working with and managing multiple technical experts on all property claim related issues, from structural engineers to subrogation specialists.
Robert C. Yancey
Director – Inspection Services
Robert’s responsibilities include managing our Warranty/Product liability claims administration unit and development of the Water Mitigation program for the BrightServ group. He has more than 13 years of claims experience, including 10 years managing high profile class action settlement cases, product recall/product warranty claims administration, quality assurance programs, and environmental claims. Other experience includes management of a national call center, direct contractor repair programs, catastrophe claims, and liability claims administration.
Robert is a licensed claims adjuster and has served in various capacities such as claims adjuster, supervisor, assistant operations supervisor, branch manager and director of operations.
